Real-time curbside discovery

CurbPin

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 15, 2026

CurbPin is a real-time, community-verified curbside discovery network. This policy explains what CurbPin (“we”) collects to operate that network and why. We do not sell your personal information and we do not show third-party ads.

Information we collect

  • Account email: required to create a login. Optional phone number, display name, and whether you verified that contact. Email is not shown to other users.
  • Photos: pictures you take or pick when you drop a pin. These are user-generated and visible to signed-in neighbors.
  • Location: the map position of pins you post (street / curb of the pile). The browser may also share GPS when you tap “Use current location,” open the map, or verify a pin. For verification we store calculated distance and accuracy — not your exact check-in coordinates. You can refuse location access; the check then will not count as proximity verified.
  • Optional home address: only if you turn on nearby alerts, so we can notify you about new pins close to that address.
  • Notifications: if you enable nearby or saved-pin alerts, we store a Web Push subscription on your device so we can send those alerts. You can turn them off in Profile or in system settings.
  • Activity: saved finds, still-there / fetched / gone verifications, pickup-trip intentions and outcomes, and content reports you file.
  • Device: optional passkeys, used only to sign you in.
  • Product analytics: anonymous page views via Vercel Analytics, plus timestamps for app activity, listing interactions, status changes, and notification delivery or opens. Geographic analytics use a coarse area rather than an exact address.

User-generated content

Pins, photos, titles, and notes are posted by neighbors about items they saw on public streets. Other signed-in users can see that content. Report or block from a pin’s page. See Community Guidelines.

How we use it

We use this information to run the map, show your pins to neighbors, send the alerts you opt into, understand whether items are successfully reused, improve CurbPin, keep the community safe, and comply with law. We do not use your data to track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not use it for advertising.

Sharing

Pins, photos, display names, and pin locations you publish are visible to signed-in neighbors. We use infrastructure providers (hosting, database, auth, and photo storage) as processors. We share information if required by law or to stop abuse. We do not sell personal information.

Children

CurbPin is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, email privacy@curbpin.com and we will delete it.

Your choices

  • You can edit your display name and nearby-alert address in the app.
  • You can turn off nearby and saved-find push alerts at any time.
  • You can download a copy of your data from Profile, or delete your account in Profile or at curbpin.com/delete-account. Deletion removes your profile, pins, photos, reports, and login. Aggregate analytics may remain after their direct account and listing identifiers have been removed.

Retention

We keep account and pin data until you delete them or your account. Hidden or removed pins may be retained briefly to handle abuse reports. Backup copies expire on a rolling schedule.
